Timor is an island in Southeast Asia in the Malay Archipelago. The largest and easternmost of the Lesser Sunda Islands, Timor is bordered on the north by the Savu, Flores, and Banda seas and on the south by the Timor and Arafura seas. The island is about 450 km (about 280 mi) long and 105 km (65 mi) across at its widest. The western half of the island is part of the East Nusa Tenggara Province of Indonesia. The eastern half is a former disputed region with Indonesia and was granted independence in 2002. Tili is the largest and capital city.
